Heidelberg introduces Peak Performance innovations at pre-drupa Conference

The new Speedmaster XL 106 cuts print production costs, boosts competitiveness.

Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (HEIDELBERG) introduced its latest innovations at the pre-drupa conference, highlighting advancements in productivity, sustainability, and operational efficiency. The new Peak Performance technology, featured in the Speedmaster XL 106, promises up to a 20 percent increase in overall productivity, setting a new benchmark in the industry.

At the core of the innovation is the new Peak Performance generation of the Speedmaster XL 106, unveiled at drupa. With a printing speed of up to 21,000 sheets per hour, this generation enables autonomous printing in packaging production, enhancing efficiency and reducing production costs. Markus Leichtle, Senior Manager Industrial Packaging at HEIDELBERG, anticipates a significant increase in productivity for high-volume packaging producers and wet-glue label manufacturers.

Mike Günther, Managing Director of colordruck Baiersbronn GmbH, praised the new generation for its efficiency improvements, including reduced makeready times and set-up times. The new PowderStar XL (Duo) further enhances efficiency by reducing powder consumption and emissions.

In addressing the skills shortage, HEIDELBERG focuses on enhancing the workplace environment with intuitive user interfaces and low-emissions technology. The new Peak Performance Speedmaster XL 106 features improvements to the HEIDELBERG User Experience (UX) and a new ergonomic design, making it more appealing to skilled workers.

When combined with Prinect Inpress Control and automated delivery logistics, waste-free stacks are delivered for postpress operations.

Sustainability is also a key focus, with the new DryStar Combination Eco energy-saving dryer using up to 30 percent less energy for drying. This innovation is particularly beneficial for companies operating in markets with high energy prices, as the investment can pay off within around two years.

Digitalization plays a crucial role in improving efficiency and reducing waste. The Prinect workflow system offers solutions for increased digitalization, with functions like Intellistart 3 and Color Assistant Pro dramatically reducing manual interventions and paper waste.

HEIDELBERG will showcase further highlights of the new Speedmaster XL 106 Peak Performance generation at drupa 2024, opening in Düsseldorf on May 28.
